crafty!

Today is my DT feature at Fresh Brewed Designs, and I chose to create myself a cute little shirt using the FBD crafty girl rubber stamp, which now happens to match some pj bottoms I have perfectly.

I don't often stray from paper crafts, so this isn't really my thing and you'll discover soon that I should just stick to paper.  HAHA.  Anyway....I stamped the image with black memento ink and then colored in the image with copic markers.  I heat set it with my embossing heat gun and then tossed it in the dryer. I had googled fabric coloring ideas, because I didn't think I could use copics.  However, I found a tutorial where the woman used them on decorative towels.  The Copic website says you can use on fabric, but washing may be an issue, so we'll see what happens when I wash this shirt....  a little experiment. ;)
Okay! *update since I wrote this*  My curiosity got the best of me and I washed the shirt...   the colors bled!  bummer!  I'll still be wearing my comfy crafty shirt though.   I still love the idea, so.... you could stamp it only in black and not color it.  Add some colorful buttons or sew on flowers....   I also saw, but have never done, the transfer paper for clothing.  It was like $10 at Michael's; however, not something I wanted to spend the money on right now.....  post your successful ideas in my comment section and I'll choose a winner to receive a little blog candy from me.  :)

I received this stamp before she became a set with fun sentiments.  Otherwise, I would have stamped one of the sentiments with it, too.  :)

  5. THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Sorry that the colors bled on you :(
I have done mine with sharpie markers and they washed well.
they also make fabric markers, but you could not really color the skin in with those!
I like just stamping on a colored shirt and leaving the rest of it uncolored too. It adds a pretty effect. I did it once a long time ago, but forgot where it was... ???
ANYWAY! I Am so happy to see you try something new and that you enjoyed doing it!
I will look forward to reading others tips and seeing your NEXT tee shirt project :)

    HUGS!!
