I wanted to play around with my cricut, since I don't use it all that often.  It was a good thing I did, because I've made this owl card before, but my cricut (yes, blaming it) never cut the details on the card.  Same with the doily.. I've been stumped.  For years.  I accidentally figured out what I already know... I'm a ditz!  ha ha.  The good news is that I FINALLY know what I was doing wrong and can use the cartridge properly.  Oh how I laughed at myself.  duh.  Anywho....   here's the card I created.  I actually don't need a graduation card, so I'm giving it to my ds on his last day of school.  He is finishing up 1st grade and on to 2nd, so I added the "yay for summer". 

AND... I'm excited to say that my ladybug card I created for their last ispiration challenge was in the top 5.  woo hoo

 

CFC54

CAS-ual Fridays CFC54 this week is CAS masculine card with Designer Paper.  I've created a similar design before, but here's my card using Basic Grey Designer Paper along with stamps by A Muse Studio.  I raided the garage again for some duct tape and a bolt.  Shh... when my husband wonders where all these things are going, no one say a word.  ;)

Crafting When We Can 18- Steampunk

Don't laugh... this is my first Steampunk card or my version of one.  hee hee.  I created it for the Crafting When We Can Challenge.

I got the toy horse plan graphic from The Graphics Fairy.  I cut it out, crumpled it, and added walnut ink to the edges.  I took a Popsicle stick and broke it, then painted it with Tim Holtz crackle paint and a little mist of tattered angels.  A flower?  I don't know.. just because it was lying on my desk and was a good color for it.  lol!  a nut and bolt from the garage... I put some stazon brown on it to age it a bit, but didn't really work all that well.   :)

Now on to my challenge cards I created this weekend.  First up...   MOXIE FAB WORLD, the GINGHAM challenge.  The red gingham is paper ribbon from Little Black Dress Designs.... I've had it in my stash forever.  I also found the gingham button.  I cut the star with my cricut from some green gingham i had in my stash as well... 

Next up..... my first time joining in at The Playdate Cafe:  splash of yellow.  I won (blog candy) a set of beautiful handmade flowers by Shannon Keith (www.etsy.com/shop/shannleffew2) and this is one of them.  Although it was already a pretty yellowish flower, I sprayed it with some additional Maya Mist, Sunflower Yellow, to brighten it up just a little more for added contrast with the black and white.  I added a black button and some bees (i think are Inkadinkadoo).  The label stamp and the thanks so much are both stamps by A Muse Studio.

It's all about Brides and Babies this month! I have heard so many of my friends talk about
celebrating new marriages, anniversaries, and just announced pregnancies. We are so excited to release a couple of stamps to help celebrate these occasions. Our stamps this month are simple and classic.

We are releasing Beautiful Bride and Baby Bump.

You can purchase these rubber stamps singly in the shop OR for this hop only, get the both stamps and four sheets of 4x6 paper {American Craft Letterbox Madam} for an amazing deal of $10! This deal will end Monday night at midnight.

For this hop, I chose to make a card using both stamps.  First up is a card for the Bridal shower.... Beautiful Bride.

MFW Postage Challenge &.... a FBD sneak peek!

Over at Moxie Fab World there are several challenges currently posted.  This card I created for the Postage Challenge.  I created a snail mail birthday card, because even birthday card wishes are often sent electronically now....   this is a good old fashioned snail mail birthday card.   

I've been putting my cuttlebug to good use as of late. I've had these cute little postage embossing folders for years and this is the first time I've put them to use, I think. The envelope was a free image I found from googling envelope clip art. The cute snail and "snail mail" are freebies from The Alley Way Stamps Blog.  I added some hemp to bundle it up like they used to bundle mail in the old days.... ha ha... did they?  ;)

AND NOW!  Did you know that tomorrow May 19th- 21st is the Fresh Brewed Designs Blog hop and RUBBER RELEASE!?  Don't forget to set some time aside this weekend to see the fab new stamps and what the DT created with them for a little inspiration....  Until then, here's a little sneak peek......

It's almost summertime!

Seriously.  Where did the school year go?  It's almost time for my ds to say farewell to 1st grade.... that means, I have a 2nd grader.  What!?   I googled teacher gifts and came across two (well, lots, but two I wanted to do) ideas that I combined.  One was the beach towel, magazine, candy, and sunscreen idea.  I saw different variations of it with more and less items, but unfortunately, the one that inspired me most, I didn't save the link.  Sorry.  Credit to part of my idea (like the wording on the sun) does not go to me.  I did type it into word and then created the sun in Word to go around it.  I found that cute little bathing suit brad in my stash. :)

 

 

 The tumbler idea was all over the internet/pintrest, too; however, I loved this one and on her website (yay.  saved it!):  http://lisastorms.typepad.com/lisa-storms/2011/05/teacher-appreciation-week-part-3.html , she even includes the pdf to download the flag, which I did.  I just added some paper clips and a bling flower...

I wasn't sure how I was going to package it.  I saw the idea in a beach bag, but I didn't really want to spend any more money.....  BUT i was at Homegoods, because my MIL was so sweet and generous and sent me a GC for that store for Mother's Day, and saw these cute reusable bags in the exact same colors I used above with a beach-like print for 99cents.  It does say Homegoods on it, but who cares.... 99 cents for a great reusable bag!  As soon as I get ds to write his teacher a nice note, we are ready for the end of the year.  :)

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers of humans and/or four legged kids. :)

I was greeted this morning by a very loving little 7 year old boy who was armed with hugs, cards, gifts, big smiles and lots of "I love you, Mommy"....   couldn't be any better than that (unless I could have slept in just a wee bit longer.  LOL!).

I don't have any crafty projects to share yet, but did want to tell you about the Mother's Day SALE over at Fresh Brewed Designs!  Go treat yourself to some fun rubber stamps and Digis.  :)

New Challenge at FBD: thank you/appreciation

Happy Wednesday!  Time for a new weekly challenge at Fresh Brewed Designs.  The theme is thank you/appreciation.  I created this card using the FBD rubber stamp Wreath Girl, but instead of the wreath, I replaced it with one I made to say thank you.

Tuesday Trigger

That's a new embossing plate I got at the scrapbook expo.  It's so pretty!  I love the added pearl stickers to it. The heart stamp is SU and I stamped it in gold and wet embossed it with diamond glitter ep from A|S.  This looks like it should be a wedding card to me, but inside I stamped "Happy Mother's Day".  I will be giving this card to my MIL.  :)

My friend and I went to the scrapbook expo today in Del Mar. I had never been. Wow!  Was it ever overwhelming with paper crafting goodness.   I could have gone crazy buying stuff, but had a cash limit.  I got some embossing folders and a nestie set.  Everyone got free glue dots and my friend even won a door prize.  :)  I look forward to playing with my new goodies.

I made this quick and easy card for CAS-ual Friday's challenge 51:  happy birthday!  It's CFC's birthday!  woot. Happy Birthday!  This card is for my ds' friend's 7th birthday.  I found some rub-ons in my stash that were designed for decorating bottle caps.   I stamped Celebrate (A Muse Studio), added the rub-ons and then made a little birthday flag.  The happy birthday stamp is SU!

a LO and a card challenge...

Using mostly April Burlap & Buttercups April kit, I created this quick and easy LO of me and my ds when he was 4 mos. old loving what most babies do: airplane!  The airplane (rubber stamp) is SU!

This card I created for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 158.  Here's the photo of inspiration, which made me think of sailboats... i know, it's an umbrella, but ....
